My journey as a Lion has bridged cultures and exemplified the universal spirit of service. Since my School days I was Inspired by Lions Clubs International and it’s services in India and Nepal, I carry compassion and care as I serve in the United States. Memories of humanitarian initiatives and unity remind me that a lion’s heart beats as one, regardless of location. With Lions Clubs International, I believe in transcending boundaries to create a world of empathy, kindness, and lasting impact.

The Spirit of Compassion and Unity:
In a world often characterized by division, Lions Clubs International stands as a testament to the power of compassion and unity. As Lions, we transcend boundaries and borders, languages and cultures, to come together with one common goal – to lend a helping hand to those in need. Our actions exemplify the true essence of humanitarianism, extending a beacon of hope to communities around the world.

Honoring the Lions of California:
Among the countless Lions who dedicate themselves to service, I find immense pride in acknowledging the Lions of California. Their unwavering commitment to making a difference in their communities and beyond is truly inspiring. To my fellow Lions in California, I extend my heartfelt congratulations for your remarkable contributions. Your actions exemplify the essence of Lionism, and it’s an honor to be part of a community that embodies such selfless dedication.

Remembering the Tragedy:
Today, as we celebrate World Humanitarian Day, we also remember a tragic incident that occurred twenty years ago. On August 19, 2003, Sergio Vieira de Mello and his colleagues lost their lives while serving communities in need. Their sacrifice serves as a poignant reminder of the risks and challenges that humanitarian workers face. It reinforces our resolve to continue making a positive impact, even when faced with adversity, and to honor their memory through our own acts of kindness.

Lions Clubs International Foundation’s Role:
The humanitarian efforts of Lions have been celebrated for over a century, and the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) plays a vital role in amplifying our impact. The core of every Lion is driven by the spirit of helping others, and LCIF supports us in carrying this spirit to our communities. With the privilege of providing grant funding, LCIF empowers clubs and districts to create a better world. Since 1968, LCIF has been instrumental in funding services that enable Lions to deliver impactful solutions.

Humanitarian Services Through LCIF:
LCIF’s initiatives, such as Matching Grants and District & Club Community Impact Grants, enable Lions to support a wide range of humanitarian activities. These grants serve as vehicles for addressing youth development, health and wellness services, and community initiatives. Moreover, LCIF’s efforts extend to vital areas like healthcare, with the funding of measles and measles/rubella vaccines. In partnership with Gavi, The Vaccine Alliance, LCIF has facilitated the procurement of over 110 million doses of the measles vaccine, contributing to global health and wellbeing.
