Why I stopped writing news?

Why I stopped writing news?
Now a days if you read any news paper or online News Medias you are indulging lots of negative energy to your body and mind because when we read most of the newspaper from one end to the other, we would probably be overwhelmed by the negative news we would learn about. There would be stories of violence, defamation , robbery, corruption, and more. And even once we close the pages and divert our mind to something else , we still carry the negative thoughts that we recently read because that persist in our mind. Knowingly or unknowingly We seek pleasure in it and get habituated to read or write such thing again and again.
Same way most of the so-called Journalist try to make news out of it. For them only negativity is the news . Like bad smell, we are also surrounded by Bad or negative news that can be easily infect our minds or multiply its effect as Virus. Likewise we have recently read some news that became so viral, I believe there is hardly few Nepalese persons who have not read or listened about the current news of Dilsobha. Because unknowingly our subconscious mind drag us to read such news first. It’s because we are totally infected and injected with negative thoughts and deeds since long time, we have forgotten our ethics of Journalism and Social responsibility. As a Journalist everywhere we are just searching the issues that makes “breaking News ” and gives us short-term popularity . But we never think what happens if somebody accuse us without our mistake or try to defame us ? Can we tolerate it easily or digest it ? Here I am neither in favor nor against of the issue but I am concern what happens if in any of the news charges against her proved false  or say if it proved true, who will be the winner ? In this case whoever wins but  the Country will fizzle from the eyes of the world. Now the question comes,  Can we forgive or forget this matter? Can it be forgiven forever? We know to forgive or forget is the short-term process but building trust is a long-term process. It takes time to rebuild trust once it is lost. what happens if we lose trust from all the medias, NGO’s or INGO’s or even from the Social workers who are trying to bring changes to the needy people, Environment, country and the world ? Even people will be skeptical to any philanthropic activities and mistrust  its validity.

we know there are so many good news also surrounds us that make us feel proud and dignify or glorify us, and we have the option to tune in to that instead. But we never make that choice …….. Do we? I see scarcity of Philanthropic journalist in our community who devote their time and energy for the betterment of our Society. Even I was blamed one or two times for not writing any negative news. Because I always chose to write affirmative news in my career but many times it was manipulated and misinterpreted, that’s why I have stopped writing any news now. Because my ethic don’t allow me to do so and I don’t want to stand in the same row….

Now a days instead of writing news I focus and devote my time and energy for creative writings, researching our cultural values, exploring our potentiality and bringing them in our community with positive attitude that glorify our presence in this country. Sorry for the detour and my less presence….Because Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Life: What on Earth Am I Here for? has rightly said “Time is your most precious gift because you only have a set amount of it. You can make more money, but you can’t make more time. When you give someone your time, you are giving them a portion of your life that you’ll never get back. Your time is your life. That is why the greatest gift you can give someone is your time.”

Now I truly realized the value of time and felt not to waste it unnecessary and unproductive activities, I have been writing community news based in California for almost 10 years, always highlighted the community activities thinking that they are doing good for the community, I never wrote anything bad about them, it doesn’t mean that I always praised them but chose to write on those news that glorifies our culture, our community and our presence in this land of opportunity. As a founder of and Chief Editor of Hamrosamaj.net I have never asked or expect a penny from the community instead always supported them with my time money and my writings to photo/video that you can find all of them in you tube channel too. Beside that always encouraged to be accountability of what you are doing for the community, I never chose any post or try to  get benefit from them. For me it was a philanthropic Journalism, it was a volunteer service that I could do for my community without any bias and prejudice. I did what I felt and thought right may be in your definition that could not be a journalism but my purpose was clear and pure, I wanted to highlight all the goodness that we are doing for the betterment of our community.

But recently the whole scenario have changed. The purpose and mission of the organizations have been changing and people have become self-centered , value of name became more important than the organizations or their work. They always wanted to be highlighted in the news, if we missed a single persons name in the news they used to call us several times and asked us to amend just saying he or she was also present on the event though he or she had done nothing on the event, their name had to be written as the community leaders or Social worker. Now such ready-made lists are available, you can put those list in any events or community news , Nobody will care what happen and what was the purpose of the event but they care the list of people who were in the front rows with the”Khada” or their names were called as the guest or leaders/Social worker. Now the name lists are increasing day by day so you will find less news coverage and long list of names and make sure you will not miss a single name out of that or you will be called as unfair journalist or you intentionally removed the name list. As a result  you find most of the organizations audience are getting less and organizers and guest are getting more and more it seems that all of them are promoted to next level that is good if it is for real purpose and if they are dedicated for the community service. If  we all become community leaders and social worker in this country we would have great respect and value in this country because social workers and volunteers have great value and importance in this county. But the time has come to think and ask  that  do we really call our self a true social leader or volunteer? Lets hope so and wish you all the best for volunteering your valuable time and effort for the betterment of our community and the country as a whole. Calvin Coolidge right said, No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor is given by what he gave. and finally let me end with this lines You make a living by what you get, but you make a life by what you give. — Winston Churchill
